I have a vb.net app that sends emails with attachments for clients. I am currently testing it with Office 2003 and get the following message when the app tries to send an email:

"A program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf..."

The fixes out there are apps that click the 'yes' button for you, but I have heard that you can modify the registry to turn this security feature off.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks
Peter

I would use the SMTP class instead of relying on Outlook to send mail on your behalf. Then you won't have this problem.

Thanks Chip. I would do that, but one of the requirements (which I forgot to mention above) for the app is to create an email that sits in the sent items box of Outlook.

The whole point of security measures is that they secure the app. So if you find a way around it then microsoft will be forced to close the hole.

Because if you turn it off. all the other virusses will be able to do the same and just send mails without me knowing.

It's a crazy world.
