Good Morning:

We are currently in the process of moving our Access Databases into PCVS Dimensions to lock down the code. Dimensions takes the Access Database front end (all tables are linked from backends) and moved it into its control. It then makes the production a read only version.

The problem is that when users open the database, they receive a message from Access stating that "this database is read-only and no data will be saved." This is actually not the case for folks doing data entry and we are sure this will freak them out.

Does anyone know how to turn off that message or gain control of it?

Many Thanks,
Basia

Try going to the file properties and unchecking the read only check box.

Thanks for the quick reply. While that may be our solution, is there any way to keep it read only with out the warning message?

Cheers,

I'm not familiar with the Dimensions software but Access can create a MDE file that preserves functionality but removes all design capability from the database. That could be a solution if this other software can read a MDE file.

No, there's no way to turn off the message. Perhaps there's a way to tell Dimensions not to make it read-only? It hardly seems likely that the software would expect your users to have to deal with this message.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to work with Dimensions to look for another solution. We may have to go with the MDE route.
