I have a question about the type of tunk type to connect Nortel to Avaya. a Point to point connection betwee the 2 PBX's . On the Nortel side my service provider programed the PRI with the DID trunks rather than TIE trunks. I was watching when he was doing the programing and for some reason when he programed the D-Channel as NI2 the Switch did not accept the Trunk type as TIE and that why he programed it as DID. I have asked the qestion Why? he said it is a merly naming !!!!!!. can somebopdy please shed a light on this. I need to start testing between the 2 sites but I would like to solve any issues on the Nortel side"my side before I start testing with Avaya.
Thanks

You need to program as TIE trunk for either switch to make call out thru switch. Like Avaya Tandem thru Nortel.

so the way it is programed with DID will not work and both sides has to be Tie trunks.
The Nortel side is the Network and We have the D channel as NI2. Since it is not allowing us to do Tie changing the D-channel to other the NI-2 any suggestion?.
Thanks

Change the DCH Protocol to QSIG, ISGF or ESGF if you're in Europe. Your tech is correct, you can't have NI2 Protocol on TIE.
