tuning ultra 10

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way of tuning a sun ultra 10 (333, 128MB,9GB)system with solaris 8.
At the moment it seems to be running dog slow.

Even moving between different desktops, it takes the machine several seconds to load stuff up.

Also netscape(4.76, 6.01 has for some reason a habit to quit randomly at cetain websites.
6.01 does not seem to like this website.

As far as netscape is concerned, I am running 4.77 on solrais 8 and it is very stable. 6.01 is very slow, stil to try 6.1.

For your tuning question, before you start tuning you have to find out what your bottleneck is (cpu, disk, display, network, ...). To find out you may want to try proctools which you can find at sunfreeware.com and then when you know what causes the problem, we may be able to help.

You cal also verify the processes with top and the memory with vmstat and the I/O with iostat.

hey man ,

just check your swap space coz might be virtual memory is less and run fsck for file system check
