I'm trying to connect an Option 81C to a Cisco terminal server. The problem is that I can't get the TTY to respond through the ethernet cable.

The terminal server is in a different room than the PBX so, the terminal server connection is coming into the PBX room via an RJ45 patch panel (all pairs terminated on back of panel).

So, I'm running a CAT5 cable from the patch panel to a RJ 48 to 25 pin connecter. The 25 pin connecter will connect to Core 0/1 (J25)on the I/O panel. I've used a rollover cable and straight-through cable with no success.

Do the pins on the RJ48 to 25 pin connecter need to be modified?

Thanks and sorry for the long post

i've made that connection but i used a 21 pin to 21 pin supplied by nortel.. if you loop back everything except 2 and 3 it should work.. i use a break out box

John,

Can you post the part number for the 21 pin to 21 pin cable?

We dont have a break out box so pardon the stupid question but when you stated "loop back everything except 2 and 3" is that on the DB-25 or the RJ-48 and how exactly are you looping back?

Thanks
