TTY port shows as defined. I have removed the port and re-added. This has not helped. Please can anyone help with the command line options that I can use?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

1.Are you getting any error message when creating ?
2.Possibly the port is phisically faulty - I had it once.
3.Can try with linemode command:

mkdev -c tty -t 'tty' -s 'rs232' -p 'sa2' -w '0' "Long live king Moshiach !"
h

Try this:

1. Delete the "Defined" device (rmdev -dl ttyx)
2. Mount CD 1 of 4 of the installation CD's (mount /dev/cd0)
3. Change dir (cd /dev/cd0/usr/sys/inst.images)
4. Run Config mgr (cfgmgr -vi ./)
5. Display the adapter (lsdev -Cc adapter | grep tty)

Good luck!

I just had this problem on one of my nodes. It about drove me crazy. I ran diags and found nothing wrong with the port. I removed / added and reconfigured until I was blue in the face. Ends up after a support call to IBM the TTY port was faulty but from what I was told its common that they go bad and not report to diag or syslog. After the board was changed it came right back.

Good luck,

Tcorum
