its the low speed link for accessing the MerMail via the AX command on the small system.

its always disable, until its being used...i.e someone AX into MM

lsl is not for mermail. It was for Meridian MAX, That is why there is a HSL (high speed link) and a lsl (low speed link) also refered to as the load management link. Mermail used Auxilery Module Link, and it was always typically AML 0.
 
You're right bigindian, whenever I hear "low speed link", I usually think MAX too. However on an opt11, MerMail has 2 links...the AML link and an lsl which is used for passthrough from the TTY to administer MM. It's disabled when it's not in use. You can also have an lsl for access to a MIRAN card on an opt11.
 
Thanks yukon, I did not know that about 11s, only work on 81s, CS1000, BCMs, Branch Office. I guess education never ends until the "dirt nap
