TSM 5.2 server crashed

What do you understand by crashing? Is it impossible to restart the server? TSM DB corrupted? Any error messages?

Server is completely crashed and we have to reload the OS and TSM, we are hoping that after the reload that we can import the volume groups back off of the SAN but that is in question still. The person who adminsters the server did not save at the recovery plans or have the volhist files.
At this point we may need to read the tapes in the library and find the database and restore and that will take days.
