we have installed windows server 2008 R1 with terminal services web access. When using the "Terminal Services Remote Desktop Web Connection" page we have noticed that the "Options" button does not work correctly. The options appear but then disappear instantly, but if you run IE8 in compatibility mode it works perfectly. From this I have deduced that Microsoft have written a web page that is not compatible with their own browsers after IE7.

Does anyone know if Microsoft have issued an update, patch or fix for the gross oversight?

Cheers
Paul.

Yes, it's called Compatibility Mode. :)

You can define which sites automatically use compatibility mode on your PC, or you can edit the META tags of the web page for the TSWeb access to include the compatibility mode headers. Doing so will cause IE8 to automatically use compatibility mode for that site. You can even set compatibility mode site-wide on your web server if you want to. Here's some documentation on each option:

Undoubtedly the issue will be fixed in a future update or patch to Windows 2008 R2. My test lab that runs the SP1 RC doesn't have TSWeb access, otherwise I would check for you. Personally I would just make the changes to the meta tags for now.

Just saw that you are running R1 instead of R2. The same info still applies, minus the bit about the SP1 RC.

Thanks for the reply. will check those links out and see about editing the meta tags. Hopefully that'll sort it.

Cheers!
