I am trying to install some Sybase devices using a raw metadevice created using Disksuite on Solaris 8. Whenever I specify the full device name for location (/dev/md/rdsk/d10) it gives me an error about space usage.

IS there anything special I need to do in order for Sybase to use this? I already made the sybase user the owner of the disk slices that make up the metadevice

Also, the metadevice is just a three disk stripe - no mirrors or anything else. Anyone have any ides? Thanks

You cannot use the entire disk space.
Create your Sybase device with 1-2 Mb smaller than physical disk size.

tried that already, wouldn't even let us create a 100MB device (was a 100GB+ disk stripe) - we ended up just using veritas, but I still am curious why it kept giving those errors
