Hi,
I am trying to save a specific video file onto my hard drive. The video is on a website that streams it out. When I check my Temporary Internet files after viewing the video all I have there is a .asx file. Well I found out that if you open a .asx file with notepad, you can get the actuall link to the video so I tried that and it worked ....sort of. What is atually downloaded is a .dat file which has the right size. So no that I had this .dat file on my hard drive, I try playing it by renaming it to .mpg,.avi,.mpeg,.asf and Windows Media Player will not play it.

Does anybody know a way around this?
Here's the thelink to the video that I extracted from the asx file.

Thanks

can you play the *.dat file in WMP?

How about trying ASF recorder or other stream recorder

Dan. W. :)-)

I use software - Streambox Vcr Suite 2 - it's free and works GREAT!
