i am connected to their switch at ip address 10.1.27.17, the BCM is also connected to the same switch, without having to ping/open up on IE each individual ip address through 254, how can I retrieve address that the BCM is on?

thanks,
-pt

You can connect through the serial port and get the ip information.

connect through the serial port much like connecting to the back of the a core?

If the unit is set for DHCP, check with the network support. They can check the DHCP leases and let you know what it is.

Connect to the serial port on the front of the system - 9600-8-N-1. You'll need a null modem cable. Use the same username/password you'd use to connect via Unified Manager. You can go through the menus to find the IP address, or 'cheat' and do it from the command prompt (option 7). Type ipconfig /all |more and look for the IP.

The LAN 2 port is usually 10.10.11.1/255.255.255.0 unless it was changed at some point in it's life.

Don't think that it would have a DHCP address, unless it happened to be upgraded to release 4.

if your BCM is lower than release 4.0 you can accessd the serial port with the information provided earlier in this thread. Once connected via a hyperterminal seesion (or similar) select option 2 (configuration) you should then be able to press Q for a quick configuration menu. All LAN, WAN, and Gateway IP addresses will be listed.
