Hello! I'm attempting to install the Brightstor v.9 Unix client on a Solaris box- v.5.6. The file is SUN26.tar.Z

The command I'm using is "zcat SUN26.tar.Z -xvf"

It appears then to un-tar- the screen rips by for 5 minutes-
the end of which I can't find where the program is, nor where to run the ./install.

Am I running the wrong command? How can I tell it where to un-tar and how can I find and run the install?

I'm very inexperienced with Unix, obviously, and would appreciate any help- thanks!

Best Regards,
R.

I'm not familure with UNIX but this is what the manual says.
Change to the install directory contatining the install file and extract the files.
cd /<dir>
zcat <file> | tar xvf-

Thank you- I did try the command as presented as well- nada. I would love to get a Unix-user's ideas. I must be missing something...

Best Regards,
R.

Well there is a SUN:Solaris forum. Enter solaris in the search box and post the question in that forum. It should be a sure bet there is someone in that forum that can solve this. When you get the answer be sure to update this thread.
