Trying to install IE6 on w98 instal

Trying to install IE6 on w98 install fails every time. Downloaded the complete install booted into safe mode shut down all anti-virus, no files of zero bytes and still fails the install.
Cleared the uninstall folder did almost every fix i could find no luck any one else havethe problem? it fails after the EULA screen.

p.s. I believe that the version you cite is 5.0, not 5.5...and 5.0 is a very bad version to have. You can get a full 5.5 download here...if need....

It seems that solution is for NT, 98, or 95. I have 2000. I gave it a try anyway, replacing both the cabinet.dll files with the NT one from the IE60 installation. After a reboot, I attempted to install IE 6.0, same result. I restored the Win 2000 cabinet.dll files that I had previously.
