I have downloaded it and installed to stage 4 OK. At stage 5 (Install SP3) I click that and (with UAC turned off) it offers selection of features (the only one clickable is Unifying server role). Whether I selct that or not if I click Next I get a message "Please selct a server role" and cannot get passed this.

Anyone advise?

Thanks for your time.

Ahem! I did NOT do this: I think I have a partially installed Exchange that expects a key and I cannot access it from outside remote... :)987 throws a can't display page). I can log into the server and Exchange is shown on the programs list but if I open the Exchange management Console I get "Finaise deployment" screen which amongst other things asks for a product Key.

Should I reload SBS2008 from scratch and be a good girl and follow the proper instructions or avoid it and stick with SP1?

So advice on this much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Can you run the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer and see if it throws up any major red flags about whether your installation is incomplete? I would hold off on SP3 for now. While it's being widely adopted, I wouldn't say that even half the servers out there have it installed yet.

Thanks ShackDaddy. Well I suppose I'm commited now (is there a route back?). I have connected remote and done a "Health Check" scan. This too about 1 min. The results are (appreciate a comment on what to do with these):

Some versions of MAPI clients are blocked on server AUDORSERVER.audor.local. Current processor speed on server AUDORSERVER.audor.local is less than the maximum possible speed. Maximum clock speed is 2200. Current clock speed is 1100.

Thanks for your time.

There is a bug in SBS 2008 when you reinstall Exchange it incorrectly asks for a product key. There is a hotfix for this.

I hope that helps.

Er, no as the hotfix instr. imply you should only apply it if needed as there may be problems. How do I check if I need it?

Thanks for your time.

You need it, that is why I recommended it. The hotfix corrects the specific problem you are describing.

I hope that helps.
