I'm trying to install version 8.1 client on a pc and for some reason I can't seem to get rid of the older version installed on this PC so the setup won't let me continue. Any help, I've spent many hours on this already

After you uninstalled the older version did you reboot the box? If not reboot and then try to install 8.1

I did try that. I killed it. Removed all Program directories, all registry entries that I could find and still it says that it must be removed prior to installing 8.1 version. I don't know where else to look other than a total format!

There are two things that would help if I knew. The OS you are using and version you are trying to remove. It appears you may still have a registry entry that is preventing the install. Here is a document that might help, if not let me know what the two items above are.

The PC is XP Professional
The version I am trying to remove is from SystemWorks 2004 I believe.
