Trying to use an IP2004 over a VPN connection. The VPN is cisco and he is saying it cannot find server. It has been working the office for a couple of months. They are on software 3.6, any words of wisdom, he says his firewall is opened wide. His laptop is connected on the other side of IP phone to their network.

Is he using a cisco vpn client on his laptop? If so, that won't work.

He is using a cisco VPN client and Cisco is trying to get them to go over to the cisco VOIP system. And he says he is not going to change that. What type of VPN clients would it work on?

None. The i2004 is a hard phone and speaks directly at the BCM, therefore it would need it's own connection.

The VPN guy should have been able to tell you this...

Is there any phone like the softphone 2050 or the 1140 that would work in Cisco VPN application or any other one.

The 2050 soft phone *should* work, provided the VPN is configured properly. As it runs on the laptop and the laptop is on the VPN, there shouldn't be an issue.

In order to get this phone working you would need a VPN Router that the phone would then plug into. VPN client will only work with the i2050 softphone.

Thanks for everyone's help, customer is going with the soft phones.
