Trying to find an online chat applet

Does anyone know where I could find and test out some FREE chat applets? I'm not looking for a chat room, I'm looking for a 1 to 1 type of chat applet. There is an example here:

Try looking for IRC Java applets, that might do it? Or else you could write one if it is just for one on one messaging. I remember seeing a tutorial on how to set up a server and a client applet on the Sun website.
