Thanks in advance for any help.

I've been through threads back to February and haven't found an answer.

I've successfully connected to work's VPN with a laptop with Win98 and a 56k modem, and at home with WinME and DSL.

I'm trying to connect at another remote location with XP via a 56k modem (I'm using the same account/ISP as I did to connect successfully using the laptop). I get the following error:

"Error 800: Unable to establish the VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection."

I've changed all the possible security settings and continue to get this error. I did read in another thread that the user's employer had to upgrade on their end.

My system administrator has neither the time, or currently the resources, to research this issue considering that no one in our facility uses XP, and there are few home users at this time using XP.

Does anyone have an answer? Thanks.

What VPN does your employer have? I know my employer will not support a VPN connection for XP, we have Cisco VPN 5000.

Which, if you do have the same thing, I'd like to know how you have th WinME configured as I can't get that to work.

Thanks netconfused! Your answer was very helpful (I'm really not insane?!). My employer has a CISCO 3000; apparently they're phasing out the 5000 for the 7200 or the 3000.

If you think I can still be of any assistance please let me know. Thanks again.
