this is what im trying to do need help with formulas, examples would be great. here it goes

say you have col a2= regular hours
a3 is for input lets say 40 hrs
b2 is hours week 1
trying to get b3 to be 40 or less if theres no overtime
and 40 hours if there was over time lets say a3 is 44?
c2 is overtime hours
trying to get c3 to = any hours of overtime after 40 without resulting in -40 if that particular person didnt work overtime ex a3=35
ive been tring with no avail is it possible to do?
basicly if a3=43
then b3=40
and c3=4
this is not that hard but when a3 equals 40 or less
it throws c3 to negative numbers than the desired 0 for no overtime hours and b3 stays mostly at 40
could you please email me @ lopez@rightpc4u.com thanks id apriciate it very much

no I won't email you as this is a forum to SHARE knowledge NOT to act as your own personal helpdesk.

All you need to do is use an IF statement to check the value
=IF(a3>a2,a3-a2,0)
this would go in your overtime calc cell
ie if hours entered > std hours then subtract the standard hours from hours worked......

I'll leave the rest for you to figure out

Rgds, Geoff
