Have an option 11 that has not been configured to my company's IP scheme. So I have tried to add a new host/route and each time I enter the info I get the following code.
SCH6579 Config: Update "1xx.x.x.xxx" "x.x.x.x1" failed.

NTP says ConfL error string - configuration error. Not exactly much help there.

Has anyone seen this code, and what is the work around?

Before you go much further, I would caution you to make sure you are putting the PBX either in it's own vlan, or a new subnet that is isolated from the rest of your network - you can control access to the PBX from that point.

One of the fastest ways to crash a PBX is to expose it to your corporate network broadcast traffic.

The IP scheme is set up the same across the company. Each site has its own "split" switch. First 6 ports for company network, last 6 dedicated on a seperated telecom vlan. That part I'm not worried about as it is covered, thanks though.

pbxn...what software release is your opt 11 ?

no problems only solutions

To configure a new host entry:

Ld 117
new host <host name> <IP address> [<cabinet>]

chg mask <net mask> [<cabinet>]

chg elnk active <host name>

new route <net_addr (usually 0.0.0.0)> <gateway IP> [<cabinet> <port>]

prt rout

(Take note of the ID# for the rout you just created)

enl rout <route ID>

u d

LD 137
dis elnk
enl elnk

Thanks for the post allenmac, I sort of got all of that, done it a time or two, refer to my first post on the error I am getting when trying to add the ip info.

=> new host Prim x.x.xx5.x00 1
SCH6579 Config: Update "PRIM" "10.1.225.100" failed.

=> new host PRIM 10.1.225.100
SCH6579 Config: Update "PRIM" "10.1.225.100" failed.

Do you know what feature set the PBX is running?

I could not find any package dependencies for configuring hosts in LD 117, so If it's not a feature or package problem, I would start to suspect software or database corruption.

I'm leaning in the corruption arena. From what I can see it looks like just the default "nortel" given ip address'.
WHen I try to change, I get that code, when i try to add a new host same thing. Weirdest thing.

Sure. As you can see, as soon as I enter ld 117 I get the sch.

SCH6578 File I/O: Can't open file c:/u/db/INET.DB

Here's stat

It looks like the file c:/u/db/INET.DB is either corrupt or missing.

If you know how to log into the PDT shell, you could look to see if the file exists.

I would report this to my service vendor immediately and have them rectify the situation.

I haven't been comfortable playing in pdt, always leave that to the vendor. Mainly because if something gets really messed up, its on them to fix and not me. :)Thanks again for the posts.

You're welcome. It's too bad it doesn't look like there's a quick, easy, vendor-free fix for your problem.

Go to ld 143 and Stat or PRT elnk, that will show you what you are using....

You are entering the IP info for CAB 1 according to the command you have posted, unless you have an IP enabled cabinet 1 or gateway, then I would have to assume it's the MAIN cabinet you are trying to change (0 or MAIN) check to verify you are entering that correctly first.
Cabinet 1 is not your main(it's an expansion), it's the first cabinet after your main (0) cabinet....

Triton thanks for the post. But if you look at the two command entries I listed, I tried both cab 1, and on the second chose the "default" main by not entering a number. Tried 0 as well no luck. I try any and all configurations I can before I admit defeat so to speak and submit to my vendor. As you can see below, this switch doesn't have a thing. Still leaning on coruption as I get that sch code right when I enter ld 117 <cr>
Thanks

Stat elnk shows default 135.x.x.x sort of like what you would have with your switch freshly installed.

Oops sorry take that back.
ld 137 shows the same as 143.
I was thinking of something else.
