Trust SC5200 sound card

Hi, I'm a newbie when it comes to this, so please be gentle.
I have been trying to install the above card for the last 2 days (without success)
I slotted the card into a free PCI slot and disabled the onboard sound via the BIOS. When I tried to install the driver via the cd, it said that my computer is not equipped with a C-Media audio chip. I believe that the 'Trust' card uses the same said audio chip, and I know for a fact that my onboard sound uses a C-Media CMI9739A chip

If anyone has any ideas i'd be most grateful.

Xp Pro sp2 (5.1 Build 2600)
CPU: P4 2.8Ghz
RAM: 1024mb
Mobo: MSI 865PEM2-ILS
BIOS: Award® ver 7.3

If the driver CD that you're using is for the onboard audio adapter, then use the driver CD that was supplied with the sound card.
If none was supplied, then check the sound card manuf's site for the correct driver.

Have you tried the card in a different PCI slot?

The driver cd is for the supplied PCI card.
Onboard sound is disabled in the BIOS.
I have tried the card in all 3 of my PCI slots without success. I have just filled in the returns slip for the new card as I have decided to give it up as a bad job.

You need to uninstall the software for the on-board sound and then disable it in the bios.

Probably a bad card. I have seen audio cards (with the C-Media chip), run on boot-up using the drivers of the onboard sound chip. C-Media is a common chip.
