Hello fellow network gods,

I am seeking some advice from anyone who may have come across this requirement. I need to establish an 802.1q trunk between a Cisco catalyst switch, and a nortel baystack 460 unit. Having some issues getting it to work. Has anyone out there ran into this requirement, and hopefully, come up with a resolution.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Ruster.

What are the problems you are having?

The cisco side should look something like this.

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
description Trunk port to Baystack
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk

Hey Baddos,

Got the trunking figured out and working over a FastEthernet port. Having some difficulty with having the Nortel Baystack 460 connect to the Cisco Catalyst 3500 via SX GBIC.

Any advise on that?

Ruster.

It should be the same configuration. Make sure that the port links though.
