We are putting in a paging system into our offices and I need to make sure that everyone can have access to it. I am having a severe brain cramp and cannot for the life of me remember how I can do that without making everyone's set UNR. Help.

If you build your paging rout with the same TGAR as all of you outbound routs everyone should have access with the ACOD.

when you build the route, targ x1.. then the route will not have a targ.. the default is one, x1 takes it out, if you enter 2 your targ will be 1 2..

The only reason I suggested to use the TGAR of the outbound route is incase there are phones or remote systems that you have TARG'd out.

You use TARG/TGAR to prevent callers using ACOD, not alow them to use ACOD.

Nice resource, ghtrout! Apologies to all, I am inspired once again to repeat the poem:

If the TGAR on the set
Matches the TARG on the route,
You can try and try and try
But your call just WON'T go out!

Seriously, I think you might also want to look into FCR tables, if you have zone paging. If you create a table (LD 49) and allow 0-9 or whatever zones you have, then you apply that table to the FRL prompts in your route, CTD users can then dial the access code for the route followed by whatever digit represents that zone. I am traveling today but can post the specifics for you later, if you need them.

Just make the TARG on the route "0" and then anyone can access it by dialing the accesscode, let's not make it harder then it needs to be.

Ace and Sandml have raised an issue that is real.

I've never found a better solution than Ace's least complicated one (just blow away the RDBs TARG - then simply enforce the 'you'll be fired if you $&$k with the PAG system')

Just te same, sandlyml is correct that Zone Paging often requires an extra step unless the route is built as WAT. Rather than the FCR method, I belive a simple toggle of the LD16 MANO prompt to "YES" will fix the Zone Page issue CTD users have.

i use frl to enable zones.. my problem with page is guest access. more often someone dials the acod by accident and starts talking.. i use tgar/targ for all area (code blue) but the local area's have 6 or 8 speakers that anyone could hit, i do use 8 digit acods on those.

i never use type pag, usually cot so i can use tfd 180.. i know wat will allow that but i didn't know it bypassed nfrl. but really that's a 10 second one time change.. you could use that on area to only allow one ncos to hit that trunk as well.. but as usual there are a dozen ways to do almost anything..

Wow...some great information there guys. I did make the route a WAT and Set the TARG to be blank. The sets that we need paging on now have it and are working fine. Since this isn't a hospital I don't have to worry about anyone accidently sending a "crash team" anywhere. Thanks for all of the input and I am glad I started a good discussion.

The reason WAT would work is related to CLS CTD turning into "TLD" when dialing an ACCD. When using BARS. CTD functions like UNR.

TLD (or a CTD set dialing ACCD) disallows 1 and 0 as the first digit after dialing a Route Access Code - so "Zone 1" cannot be dialed.

TLD does not enforce the "1 and 0" rule if the Route is a WAT

PAG has another benefit…you cannot transfer a caller to a PAG route. I point “Dial 0” calls over COT trunks tricked into being PAG to make it nearly impossible for an employee to be tricked into that “transfer me to “90” legend. Legend?...well, not really:

Just trivia
