Hello,

I'm a recent user of OLAP (combined with Visual Studio) and i have difficulties with the MDX langage.

I have members which are like "xxxxxxx - xxxxxx" and I would like to extract the two last characters of the first part, in order to create a set with all the combinaisons I would find.

I'm confused because I do know how to do this in SQL Server (thanks to the left and right functions), but i can't find out how to do in MDX !

Thansk in advance for your concern

Look into the MDX SubString Function

Actually even better way would be to create a member properties that you would populate using your SQL syntax. You could then creat a set of members based upon this property.

can you tell me more about the syntax in the new calculate member I've just create.

When I insert : substring([fieldname],5,2)

The verify tell me these a syntax error.
