Hi all

I recently downloaded a font from the web. When I install
it into my fonts folder (via control panel-fonts-install
new font) it installs fine and I can use it in word but if
I go back into the fonts folder it's no longer there and
if I restart my machine I can no longer use it through
word. (The font isint read only)

If anyone has an idea what I can do to resolve this
problem or have come accross it before I'd be greatful for
any advice.

Best regards
Gerry

there is a function that protects system files and folders... can't remember the name... some sort of auto-protect...

You may need to turn it off or modify it...

Or it could be a software distribution thing in your W2K domain...

I found that if I logged in as administrator the fonts showed up in the folder (even after they had dissappeared when logged in as a normal user)

My solution: After installing them, log in as administrator and use the font (say in MS Word or that), once you do that once they should work fine for all other users.

I hope this helps u 2.

i think if you login as adminsitrator and then install it, hope fully then it will work for all users too...

Knowledge is a key of success.

the fonts my be installed into another directory, but still works
*also if you go to word and the fonts later dont show up again; set a different printer as your default because some printers have fonts supported & fonts not

-those are options you can try; not guaranteed to work though
