Troubleshooting HP printer on AS/400

Just attempting to install some TCPIP printers on an AS/400 but they are working intermittently. The error message I get is:
Code 2301 a device that is not attached to a controller description cannot be varied on.

Any idea what this indicates or how I can troubleshoot this issue.. Thanks!

Well lets see,,, first,,,how did you create your printer definations on the AS400?

You need to setup the printers as a Remote Writer. They are not attached to a controller.

try: CRTOUTQ <f4>

this will start the setup of the output queue.
