We have AvayaIPO that I'm trying to get to send voicemails through email. Our company uses gmail for email. I've tried setting it up through stunnel with no success. I've also tried creating an SMTP relay with no luck. My vendor suggested a GMX account, but I'm unable to create an account with them.

Does anyone have any advice on troubleshooting this? Is there a log file anywhere so I can see if the problem exists with the IPO reaching the SMTP relay? I'm new to this whole system.

Gmail only allow encrypted mail through port 443 and IP Office cannot do that. Ther is a FAQ describing what to do to use Gmail.

Well, yes, if you have a newer version of voicemail pro, in the email tab in administration on the client, there is a smtp logging check box. This will log the smtp transactions between voicemail pro and...wherever it's going.

You said you've tried a relay...how so? Relay through the smtp/iis on a windows PC? That setup is quite easy and works very well.
I've heard of Stunnel working as well, but I haven't set it up myself.

Explain to us what exactly you've tried.

Thanks for the replies. I am finding the messages in the badmail folder so it looks like the messages are reaching the relay but just not being forwarded. Right now my settings for the SMTP are the IP address of the server set up for the relay with Port 25. The email address is the gmail-based account Voicemail@ourdomain.com. I have the server requires encryption unchecked. On the relay server I have the authentication set to anonymous access. I have Outbound Security set to basic authentication with the username Voicemail@ourdomain.com and TLS Encryption checked. I have the Smart Host set to smtp.googlemail.com and the Outbound connections to TCP port 465. I tried with smtp.gmail.com and port 587 with no success. These settings match my Thunderbird settings. Also, on the advanced settings of delivery I entered the IP address of the Avaya system. We are currently using the embedded VM.
