how do i check if my arcserver is corrupt?

Go to the CA support update list page for 11.5

Follow the link for SP2 and download the file and the cazipxp utility so you can decompress the file, then apply it. Do the same for SP3, then apply any further patches after SP3 has been applied.

Some patches require prerequisite patches before they can be installed. When you start the installation the patch installer makes sure these are present. If not you will be given a Q-number to install. Search CA's site for the Q-number and download the required patch.

You may need to download a fair amount of data to get your copy of ArcServe up to date.

Also, I thought append to archive added backup data to existing backup data. Even so, I would have thought that your backups would have spanned several tapes rather than stopping at the first one. Making usre you are fully up to date with ArcServe will go some way to solving this (I hope).

With regards to tape drive firmware updates - you need to search the hardware manufacturer's website to see if a firmware update is available. They usually come packaged in an installer and are very easy to apply.

Also, I hope that if anyone else would like to add to this or correct anything I have written, please do so.

Good luck
