First of all make a backup of the database folder.
Next, from the same folder that you ran the dbcheck utility from, run the dbfix utility.
This takes the form
dbfix -a -L casdb;admin;secret DBNAME
The ArcServe documentation suggests that it may be preferable to run dbfix instead of dbcheck in the first instance because dbfix runs a check of the database before fixing it anyway.
when i run the dbfix utility i am getting this error:
failed to start repairing process for database asobject: error -6003
when runnning this utility should i stop the database engines?
could these error be the one barring me from running a backup job?
can a backup tape of 40gb backup 80gb of data?
i try to do a backup but it only does 23%of the total size of the backup.then it requests for a blank media.when i check the activity log i find this msg:backed up disk volume quota
I recently reinstalled and updated my copy of ArcServe 11.1
The patch order for my system (Windows Storage Server 2003 R2) was as follows:
SP1
SP2
Q084609
Q084873
Q084984
Q092849
Q091388
Q094817
Read the page carefully and make sure you apply the patches needed for your system.
The patch page tells you what build number your copy of ArcServe should be at.
Try backing up again after patching. If you still get the same error then tyou should ensure that the firmware for your tape drive is the latest and greatest.
i think my greatest problem is that i cannot append to media.i have been using a rotation scheme but when i try to do a backup i get the error:"cannot append to media"
when i format a 40gb tape it can only backup approximately 18gb of my 80 gb files successfuly.
how do i enable the append to media. i have already checked this box.
Is compression either on the hardware device or within ArcServe properly set? Usually, as far as I am aware, the default is for ArcServe to set compression on the hardware because this is more efficient.
When you say a 40GB tape, do you mean 40GB compressed capacity? Don't forget that if the files are already in a compressed format e.g. jpeg, then you will not get more than 20GB anyway.
