Troubleshoot dos printing to NT network printer

I have a Konica 7020 network printer connected to a HP Jetdirect 300x box and shared in an NT 4.0 server. I have users who are running dos-based programs and require that lpt1 be captured and redirected to the network printer port to print. However, the funny thing is that, when lpt1 points to Konica, the printjob appears and disappears quickly on the queue without actually printing but when the port points to a shared printer in another win 98 machine, the printjob prints properly.

I believe the Konica is like a Windows printer. it HAS to have a driver (and only its own driver) to work through. It is not compatible with DOS.

Try to toggle 'spool dos based programs....'. Might be of help.
