Which version of Approach and Windows? Check in Approach Prefs - General Tab that the Tab key is the navigation key (sounds like it is already).

Oddly I saw another report of this a few weeks ago, never having heard of it before then. I don't think a solution was found but I'll check it out and post back if I find anything.

OK, I checked out that other report and the problem occurred after upgrading from 9.5 to 9.8. They've tried everything including fonts, video & printer settings, reinstalling (twice) but no solution was found.

BTW I'm running 9.8 on XP Pro, 9.7 and 9.6 on W2000, 9.5 and 97 on W95 and have never seen this problem on my network.

I asked around some more and did hear of one possible solution. If using XP, select Approach.exe in Explorer, right click it and select Properties. On the compatibility tab, deselect "Run this program in compatibility mode."

Thanks Paulbent
No luck I'm afraid, one thing I have just noticed on machine two on the relevant page there is a scoll bar on the right of the memo field. this scroll bar cannot be seen on the same page (same record) when looking at no. 1 machine.
Windows XP 5.1 with service pack 1
Approach ver 9.0

Thanks to Paul Bent again, something new cropped up today!
We shall have to upgrade to versions recommended in the meantime will this be of help in our quest?
With plenty time and everybody off the system I had chance to try various things, and found that if the shortcut from machine 2 points toward Approach.exe and then open the APR file listed, then all is ok, with the shortcut pointing toward the APR as before and as it is on no. 1 we have the original problems.........strange. Just a point to make the young lady who uses machine 2 is a complete computer novice and would not change anything, but would ask for me to do it!
Also we run various other approach databases across the system NON of the others have shown this trait.
Thanks again
