I have a 406VS PCS 09, 2 X 30 port digital exp. 1 X 8 POTS. New install I have had the system up and running for over a week. Cut the PRI over few days ago, and then activated all sets today. Had 1 set in the wrong port plugged in a tone generator (Entire unit is earth grounded and on a line conditioner) came over to the switch minutes later. The light 1 of the digital station 30 that hosted the set I was tracing kept going red, green and then blank consistantly over and over. All sets dead on that this digital station 30. DTE the unit AT-X2,3 and the rest. Still did not come up. Checked the power sources, outlets, expansion port switch, cables, everything. Still the same result. Finally just left the unit unplugged. A few hours later unplugged all sets to the module to swap it out. Curious I plugged the module in on it's own and it came up with everything and not even down graded.

Can anyone explain this and should I get another module or should this be okay. Has anyone had a similar exp.

Thanks

Found the answer in an earlier post. If interested go to
IPO DS Module 30 - Red light and do a search.

A constant reboot cycle on a DS module can be caused by someone incorrectly connecting a Lan cable to the DS ports
(especialy mobile useres connecting thier laptop to the wrong skt!)

It also can happen if the s/w version on the system core (406v2 in this case) is running a rev of software that doesn't recongnize the existence of the type of expansion module you've connected.

For example, if you connect a DS30v2 to a system running 3.1.23, the DS30v2 will reboot constantly because the 406 doesn't recongnize it.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the tips guys, found out that it was due to an inadequate power supply. Not defective, the ones that they supply you with do not produce enough juice.

Just found this, it's Tech Tip 143 only 27 Dig set to the pwr supply that comes with.

bearcity,

Thanks got the order code that I needed. Funny how that came out just days after some people started yapping about it on this Forum.

Oh, it's not just 27 I am sure that it is all dependant on your load, type of sets and wire distance.

Point being just get the one that works.
