Trouble with CDR setup on Meridian 1 Option 11

I'm struggling to set up CDR capturing on our Meridian 1 Option 11. I've followed the steps outlined on

without success.

I'm using a DB9 -> DB9 null modem cable (on com1). A posting on this site suggests that the cable has to be a Nortel specific one, because the pinouts are not the same (see thread798-408485) I find this strange, because the cable works fine connecting to Nortel Administration on TTY 1.

I've tried to set up CDR output on TTY 2 and all options and parameters seem to be correctly entered, including trunks and terminals. My terminal emulator does connect to the port, but no CDRs appear to be dispatched from the switch.

Do I need to reload the parameters, or restart the port somehow in order to get it to work?

Any help or input on this would be much appreciated.

have you checked that CDR is being outputed on TTY2
look at the TTY in LD 21 adan,,, check that CTY is set against USER Colin

Hmmmm... i dont know of a special Null cable....
mine is just a normal NUll...
have you set the baud rate to 9600 and 8 N 1
are you using hyperterminal...if you are,, when you make a change you will need to run a new session...have you got CDR enabled on the trunks ??

From my previous posting it should be quite clear that baud rate 9600 and 8 N 1 are set:

BPS 9600
BITL 8
STOP 1

I've restarted the hyperterminal without success. Thanks for advice of making sure to restart it, though.

As far as I can see, CDRs are not enabled on individual trunks but on a route group (LD16).

Set up your hyper terminal session as 7/e/1.

Add sch to the tty under USER and see if you can talk to that tty port.

Check LD 21 - prt/CDR the port shoud be defined as well as CDR turned on.

Do you have traffic over the routes with CDR turned on.

If you think it is a tty port problem - enable cdr on your tty port to verify traffic. Add CTY to USR for your terminal TTY, then add the port number in LD 15 under CDR.

I've now tried to add CDR to tty 1, just to see if I can get the CDRs on a pipe that I'm sure works. We use tty 1 for main administration (it's just a lab switch anyway).

If you have a port that works for SCH, then the port will work for CDR. Make sure you have checked the RDB in LD 21 to make sure you have answered YES for CDR,YES for NAT and any other CDR tracking you may want. It's always easier to get a port working as a SCH port first before trying to get it to work doing something else.

where do determine to send CDR data for later retrieval?
Available data collection options in the book are:
1. directly to the Databases on the Meridian 1
2. through DBA (network)
3. through a buffer unit (using serial port)

I have tried to collect using the IP address, but the script brings back errors.
If I try to collect using the file method, the script works fine but I dont see all the call records that are listed in the DBA.

I would like to collect the files to a PCMCIA card installed on the Meridian for later data collection.
