Trouble with Auto Attendant using PRI on a BCM50 1

Just switched to a PRI w/23 channels. BMC50 Auto Attendant won't pickup. It goes directly to voicemail. The AA has worked previously with analog and VoIP trunks. But when I assign a table to a PRI line, it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

Also, how can I get individual DN's to answer an individual PRI line? System tells me I can assign a PRI to a set?

You have to build target lines with the public received digits matching whatever the service provider is sending. They will have to give you this information. You should have gotten something called "cut sheets" prior to the cutover. Once the target lines are programmed you assign them to individual sets or configure auto attendant to answer them just as you would an analog. Do not assign individual PRI lines to sets or AA.
 
Ok. Thanks for this info. Now, the carrier has given me the DID's. Is this different than public received digits? I have the correct DNIS length.
 
I know about target lines, but how to build them?...I don't. I'm a data guy, not a phone guy. Just trying to get this set up.
 
Call a vendor. You can get messed up if you don't know what you are doing.

The DID is the actual telephone number. The public received number may or may not be the same, i.e. if the received length is 4, you'd program only the last 4 digits into the public received number field. Some carriers also require you to send a valid telephone number as caller ID. You do that by programming a 10-digit valid number into the public OLI field on each telephone. Some carriers ignore this info and send only the billing number on all calls. You need to find out from the carrier whether they need that information.
 
You will definitely be happier in the long run if you get it set up right buy someone with some experience on the system and in voice. You may manage to "get it working" but have ongoing issues.

The cost of a few hours to make sure it is right is much less than the cost of the ongoing headaches.

If you do ever have problems you will never be sure if it is something not programmed right or if it is the carrier.

Spend a couple of hundred dollars and buy yourself some piece of mind.
 
OK... here's what you do.

DIDs are the phone numbers associated with your PRI. "Digits" are the numbers the providers sends down the PRI when someone dials a SPECIFIC DID. So if your DID is 555-555-1234 and someone dials it, and your provider is sending you 7 digits, then what actually gets sent down the PRI to your PBX letting it know you have a call is 5551234. That's what your PBX sees.

The provider sends different digits for each DID. You have to "build" target lines for every DID by putting the DID's specific number of digits in the "Pub Received #" field. If you want a specific extension to ring then you need to add it to the "Assigned DN" part of the individual target line.

If you know how many digits your provider is sending you then make sure that is set. Then load BCM Monitor and go to the "LINES" tab and uncheck the "show all lines" box. If your PRI is configured correctly then take one of your DIDs and dsial it with your cell phone. Them BCM monitor should light up and show you what digits it received for the incoming call.

Note that if you have your system set for 4 digits and the provider is sending 7 then it will only show the last 4 in the monitor so it would be good to know the correct setting rather than guess.
