I have a file *.qic, which is about 1 Gb. A few days ago, when I needed to restore it, I found a message that says that this is not a valid catalog/catalog is empty. I really need to access this file, and I'm stuck.
More info. please.
Who is giving you this message? (The backup / restore pgm?)
How do you know the backup you took was good? And contains
the file you want?
Does the machine you are restoring to have:
QIC files already on it (Pre-defined extention)
Have adequate disk space for restore and temp area
Have Win 98' on it like the original
In general I always use specific names and not generics when possible. I would try that first.
1. The Msbackup is giving the message;
2. Through a text editor, I can see that some/part of the information needed is there;
3. The file is there, but seems that was not closed properly (i.e., that hasn't created the index/catalog)
4. The machine had two HD's; the file is at the slave, (the master was ruined);
5. There's sufficient disk space for restore;
6. Win98 have been re-installed.
If those informations aren't sufficient, please reply again.
