New to exchange, installed 03 server SP1 and exchange 03 SP1 and created test
email account jdoe@doamian.com to AD users and computers. I created a outlook email profile on my system
and under "Exchange Server Settings" added the name exchange.domain.local and jdoe to usr name.

When I chose both "check name" in creating the account and or opened outlook
it keeps asking me to supply a user anme and password to connect to the exchange server.

What could I have left out in setting the exchange or account?

Where did you specify the email address in ADUC? Did you right click on the account and mailbox enable it?

when creating the user, also properties/email addresses/smtp/edit/general/email address. says jdoe@domain.local which is correct.

I don't get the option mailbox enable if i right click the user in ADUC.

Once you create a user, right click on it, and you have Exchange Tasks. One of the options is to create the mailbox.

If you create a user, then manually go in and create an SMTP address, you're doing it wrong.

created usr manually, properties/email addresses already had an smtp email address listed.

exchange tasks wizard does not have an enable option. just move, delete, configure exchange features and remove exchange features.

no.

DC has 03 sbs, though I know it came with xchnge, I had extra system/software and wanted both server functions (DC & xchnge) to be seperate.

got it, dam if it is not the little things. user@domain then password.
