Trouble trying to setup a VPN service

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post!

I have a strange situation going. I have a PC and a laptop, both of them are Windows XP Pro SP3 connecting to my network and internet using wireless.

Once I setup a VPN service on the PC it worked right away, connected with no problems, I did the same procedure with the laptop and... well, there is just no go. Same simple configurations, check marks. The configuration on both as similar, but troubleshooting the laptop I turned off the antivirus, and firewall (which I did not had to do in the PC); without any results..... I even turned off the PC in case there is some kind of influence.... nothing. If it means anything, I started the VPN setup in the laptop, and after 2 days of no go, I moved to the PC which install and connected right away... How frustrating!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

you are trying to connect these two pc's to a vpn peer? what sort of device?

Not sure what you mean by a vpn peer. I am paying to a vpn company so I could use their services for a secure way to go in the internet (Had a very bad experience with my passwords harvested some how even thought I have a router and my PCs have zone alarm firewall.) The main machine I use is my laptop which will not connect to the vpn server, the PC which is my kids PC will connect to the vpn server right away.... I will like very much to be able to get the laptop to login into the vpn server.

are the OS's the same? is there a firewall on the laptop that is preventing the connection? while trying to log on to the vpn server, go to command prompt and type netstat -a and post it here
