Ever since I created a logon script to map our network printers, I can't print emails unless I click on File/Print, then click on the Printer button to "associate" the printer. If I don't use a logon script, all I have to do to print is click on File/Print. Can anyone tell me why I have to do the extra step of selecting the Printer button? We have Windows 2000 desktop and Windows 2000 Server. By the way, we don't have this problem with Word, Excel, or any other software. Please help. Thanks

As part of your logon script are you identifying a default printer selected from many

OR

Is there only one printer to be mapped.

If it is the former, comment out the necessary lines in the script to map only one printer and then see what happens.

Mike, thanks for responding to my Lotus Notes printing dilema. I have tried setting up just one printer in the logon script, but that didn't work either. I've noticed that when I try to print an email, I click on File/Print and the printer shows in the print box as serverxx\printer1 on Optra S 1855. However, when I click on the Printer tab(icon?), it says serverxx\printer1 on NE00. And when I click on OK, it changes the printer to NE00, and then it will work until I reboot the pc. So it seems as if somehow the pc is keeping printer1 linked to Optras S 1855 instead of NE00. I tried deleting any references in the registry of Optra S 1855, but it didn't help.
Any ideas? Thanks again for your help.

I also use printer scripts & have experienced this too - but only with Notes R5 clients. I run the 6 client on my machine & it doesn't happen. We're living with it for now since I'll be upgrading all clients to 6 in the next couple of months.

I've also seen this with other programs. They must "see" the printers a little bit differently (looks like just an older code thing). Because those printer connections are created each time the user logs in and are not persistent, you have to go back into Notes and re-select the printer. It knows you have printers around, it just doesn't recognize your default from day to day.
