Trouble logging into programming mode on a CICS 6.0 1

I am having major issues accessing programming mode on a CICS with 6.0 software. This is a new customer, who apparently had a previous interconnect. The default "config" password was obviously changed. So, I went to debug the system. I tried logging in under username "**admin" but I did not get a prompt for a password. I then tried logging in under "**time" to change the time (in order to debug the system) and again, the default password had changed. After numerous attempts, I was finally able to crack the "**config" password, but the options are only admin level, not programming level. I was unable to switch set relocation on (which was the purpose of the service call) along with line access programming. Has anyone come across this? Is there a way to hide settings in programming level? I am very experienced with these systems, but have never had this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you can use a fastrad and norstar utilities to view the password.

Click the FAQ's button up top and look for 2 possible posts.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I will get my hands on a FastRAD asap. However, I am still confused. How is the default **config login only giving me basic admin access? Is it somehow possible to change what settings a login authorizes? or create a new one?

Maybe they changed the Admin password to the default config password & vice-versa...

Yep I use that trick for problem customers.
I change Config password to my own and the Admin password to config password.

So default is:
Config-
config config

Admin-
config admin

and I do:
Config-
config xxxxx

Admin-
config config

Did you follow this one?:

I have tried debugging the system, but the password comes out as default (266344), but like I said, it still only gives admin options. Very strange. I'm thinking of just doing a **startup and reprogram. I will try the trick with FastRAD first, though. Thanks for tips.

If it has IRAD you might be able to get in that way over a phone line and a modem. no need for a fastrad.

I would just short the cap and re-program the system. If you are experienced with these systems then reprogramming should only take a few minutes.
