trouble isntalling new hard drive 2

We have a client who lost all passwords for their BCM200. long story short we needed to install a new hard drive to be able to log in again... we obtained a formated hard drive from nortel with an image on it.

I installed the hard drive, im now trying to run through the replacement process.

-i connected via serial connection/hyperterminal
-i chose "initialize universal profile"
-i chose "initialize menu"
-i chose "initialize universal profile"
-i chose "E1 MSC Load"

from there it started laoding and everything was fine. it got to the part where it was about to reboot. it set autologon, rebooted, but now it is just sitting at a logon prompt and hasnt logged itself back in.

i logged in manually, and nothing happened, just back at the main menu. any help or instructions on this process would be appreciated

If u have a 3.0 u can't use 3.6 or 3.7 patches.

Dasheen,... would the following be possible?

- install the 3.7 ghost image on the hard drive
- initialize the hard drive in the BCM200
- apply the 3.7 patch

does this sound feasible, and if so what issue may arise?

I've downloaded all 3 disc images for 3.7. i now need to get this image on the hard drive... im nto sure how exactly to do so.... i assume:

- set the HDD up as a secondary drive on a pc.
- format the HDD
- install the ghost image

im not sure on that 3rd bullet point. do i need some kind of software or are the images self installing/extracting? i read in another post there is a nortel imaging software?

Yes you need Nortel BIT tool or you can use third party ghost image software.
When you connect thru hyperterminal you can see the version on the main page.
If it's really a 3.0 you need to enter the ip adress of the bcm followed by port 6800 like

http://10.10.10.1:6800

I would definitely install 3.7 if i was you followed by all the applicable patches(including DST patch).

i ahve the 3.7 imaged downloaded. is there somewhere i can donwload the nortel BIT tool? Also where do i find the "applicable patches" is there a list somehwere or links to them?

Nortel site if ur an authorized dealer/partner.

dasheen, i am an authorized partner... but after logging in and searching there site i couldnt find a link to the BIT tool, just the bit images for 3.7...

do you have a link for the tool?

Ok, so i have a boot disk with ghost(v7.5) on it. I used partition magic to remove all delete all partitions from the hard drive, its now all unallocated space.

i booted to the boot disk and ran the following command:

ghost -clone,MODE=load,SRC=c:\24F2_BIT.GHO,DST=2,SZEE -ntchkdsk -sure -auto

it gave an error that the image could not be loaded. when i then went into the GUI for ghost, and tried to load it from there, the only drive it would allow me to load an image from was the A: drive

thoughts???
