Trouble installing Windows ME (Error)

I'm trying to load install Windows ME on a HP pavillion laptop and I'm having some issues. Win 2000 Pro loads up fine, but when I reformat and install Windows ME, it gets to where it's about 13% left and pops a blue screen with an error. This happens when the drivers and hardware is being checked. Not sure where to go from here, any help would be great, thanks.

What does the blue screen say?

Have you contacted HP/looked on their website/FAQ etc?

PS. Why are you putting ME on here when you've got 2k?!

I was doing a test to see if it would actually load an O/S at all.

OK, don't test it with ME !
ME sucks like hell. It is the worst OS Mircrosoft ever made!
You install Win2000 back on that laptop mister or else your grounded and won't get any pocket money this week !!

Yeah, I know better than to use ME, but this is a friend's laptop, and she needs ME for some application that works w/ ME and not 2K. I even tried 98' 1st Edition last night and got the same error. A fatal error blue screen occurs and give an 0E error.

Can you specify the error message. Does it only show OE error.

The error says fatal exception OE has occured at 0028:FF003C61. The current application will be terminated.
