hello all....
I am experiencing erratic behavior with my Ultra-60. Periodically, can't pinpoint exactly when or why, I am unable to ping or subsequently telnet to certain servers on my network. What I have discovered, however, is that I can telnet to a pingable server and then am able to ping / telnet to the servers I was previously unable to ping / telnet to. When executing a netstat -rn I have a default route established. This started a while back when I had Solaris 8 installed and it followed me even after I installed Solaris 9 (which was an initial install, not an upgrade). Any thoughts....

thanks, Brantley

More info needed:

1. Do you have routed running?
2. Do you have the default route before or after you can reach servers?
3. How are the systems involved connected (hub, switch, router, etc)?

thanks packageman, but I believe I figured out what was going on. The default router was set to our firewall and worked just fine for certain hosts. I changed the default router to be our router and I am no longer experiencing the erratic behavior that I was before.

FYI
1. routed is not running on my system
2. I had the default route before I tried to establish comm. with the servers.
3. The network is far too complex for me to even begin to understand nor describe... Brantley
