Trouble connecting to postfix server from exchange

What do your postfix logs say? I'm doubtful that it's a postfix problem, you're probably going to have to ask on an exchange forum.

Thanks Eric, if you follow the link in the post you can see the postfix logs that I posted. I am sure the Exchange folks will says its not an Exchange problem.

I have no problem with whose fault it is, I would just like an idea on how to narrow the scope of the problem so I can get it fixed.

Thanks for your help with this.

Oct 12 00:01:13 mailgw2 postfix/smtpd[9568]: [ID 197553 mail.info] < mail.example.com[127.0.0.1]: QUIT

Your exchange server is sending a QUIT. Perhaps it didn't like something in the return from EHLO, but there's nothing in the postfix output in that exchange that violates RFC standards, your server is choosing to disconnect. Do you have any logs from exchange that may indicate why it chose to disconnect?

Now I have to go delete Exchange form my list of forums, what an annoying feature of tek-tips.

My server returns:
Code:
clotho(~)$ telnet mail smtp
Trying xxx.162.108.54...
Connected to mail.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 mail.comfortechassist.com ESMTP Postfix
ehlo example.com
250-mail.blahblahblah.com
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250-STARTTLS
250 8BITMIME
quit
221 Bye

I don't do VRFY (security hole), but I do offer TLS.

You can try sending email to me to see if your server disconnects, just for another datapoint. If you want to try, look at my nick... email is my last name at my last name dot com.

Came through fine... very odd that it doesn't work with the other server.

It would tend to point to something particular in the connection to that other server, though the fact that it's getting a QUIT from your server makes me want to see if there's anything odd in your logs.

Agree that logs from the exchange box are all but required to troubleshoot this, and had suggested that in the other thread.

If I were jay, I'd also want to see main.cf (and possibly master.cf) from the postfix box, just to make sure nothing odd was going on.
