I have inherited a Cisco 2600 router. I have the console cable connection and am using Hyper terminal to access the router in order to look up configuration, IOS version etc. when I connect nothing happens. No text or anything. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Scott

Are you using a 'roll-over'cable via the rj-45 port connected to the serial port of the pc using Hyperterminal?
Did you set the comms for: vt100, baud rate 9600, parity=none, data bits=8 and stop bits=1?
After connecting and configring Hyperterminal, reboot the router by using the power switch. This should work for you.

Right...what Denny said. You have to have a open hyperterm session then boot the router up.
