isnt it possible to have your report opened and have it refresh on it's own every 10min or so?
or do i have to close and reopen everytime to check for an update??

There is no concept of refresh for a report in Access. You would need to close and re-open.

Why do you have to use a report?
You could have a continuous form which could be refreshed.
