Trended Month Costs plus Year to Date problem

Anyone got a plan for having a trended Month Cost report plus a few other metrics such as Year To Date and Full Year Target

so that the report looks like this...
Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - YTD- Target.

My problem is that I have a single Month Cost fact which becomes my metric so I need to use a Time attribute to bring out the individual months data. Hence for every instance of the period such as Apr, I get the Apr YTD as well, so my report looks like
Apr - YTD - May - YTD - Jun - YTD - Jul - YTD and so on

What is on the report template and what are the filters if any?

The Filter would just be on Year = 2004/05

I think the generic answer for a "non-standard" attribute is to build a custom group with these elements.

month (pick months); expand the custom group to show the months.
YTD (you need a filter here to limit months to YTD, something like year = current and month less than or equal to current month)

If it is a requirement to have the Period Attribute going across the horizontal axis, the the YTD will always repeat for however many elements are brought back for the report.
