How do you make the Transtalk pick up on the first available dialtone? Right now when you hit the 'on' button it defaults to 1 of those upper rows that aren't dialtone. I know you can just use the arrow keys to move it down but how do you make it default there all the time?

The same way you make any extension select lines when going off hook - Auto Line Selection.

From Ext. 10 or 11
Feature 00
Left Intercom button Twice
Right Intercom button Once
Dial the extension number of the Transtalk phone
Dial **
Press the line buttons in the order you want them to be selected
Dial ** again
Feature 00

That being said, I prefer to set the Transtalks to pick Intercom first, then the lines, so if I turn it on for the purpose of selecting a particular line on hold, it doesn't grab a free line until I hit the line button. In this senario, you can turn it on and press 9 for an available outside line for making a call.

i've followed the above steps; however, after I press the "ON' button on the Transtalk this is still not defaulting to the first line I specified using the above commands. There are 5 lines coming into the system and I selected them in order but the Transtalk is not picking up the first line and all the regular phones do. Any ideas. And on the Transtalk it's defaulting to button 'C'

Call another Display phone and verify the Extension is in fact the one your trying to program.

Those were the correct ext. I was working with.

Is this a 9040 or a 9030/9031 Transtalk? On the 9040 there is a setting called line preselecting. Its in the Menu under options. Try turning it on and seeing if it accomplishes what you need.

there's only 9030/9031's. I don't know what else to try. it's amazing.

To Expand on what the above post, Line preselect will allow you to choose the line you want before turning the set on. . For Example if you want to pick up a call on hold instead of a ringing call. But where you said you have allready set auto line selection as TTT pointed out, the Line preselect is a long shot.

Eeesh, I just set up the 9031 Ive got on my bench and as soon as Line selection is set Ive got Idle line grab immediatly.... Is the Button mapping set for Partner?
