Please advise if there is a transparent color selection?
This is blue ("#0000ff") but I was wondering if there was a transparent code or word I could use to get a transparent look on one of my text backgrounds?

Its for a message in my javascript that has a background color to my message that "floats" on my page.

I just found: background-color: transparent
works great in IE but not in Netscape 4.77

Anyway I can get it to work in Netscape??

I was trying to do the same thing, and i could really find a solution for NN4.x

I highlighted a cell or DIV, by changing its bqckgrouund color, then i needed to change it back to transparent.

You could try setting the cells background color to whatever is the backgroudn color of the layer beneath your cell.
If you have an image underneath your cell, then its more tricky, you have to crop a part of the image, and put the cropped part as background image.

If you use JAvascript for the background color change, then you can separate netscape 4.x browsers, and use a different effect, for those who are still using this old browser.

Hope that helps,

Does it seem like too much effort for little result?
Personally i would not waste time on N4.77 unless it is something critical to page function etc

If it's just like a nice effect you're trying to achieve then I wouldn't worry about n4*
