Hey guys and girls...I went through this tutorial:

and it comes complete with preloaders, but the swf plays its "intro" and then on another button click it plays it's "outro" then the preloader comes on for the new swf...is there any way that the preloader for the next swf could play while the current swf is stuck in it's midframe and then once the next swf has been preloaded, the current swf plays its "outro" and then the next swf starts?...any ideas are more than welcome...thank in advance.

p.s. hope this makes sense...

Please, if anyone can help me...this is for a potential new client, and I'm pulling my hair out!!! I've done searches through too too many google pages looking for a remedy...I can send a zip file to someone...I only have geocities to upload and they can't handle zip files...please, anyone...this is driving me nuts!!!

if you want to download the files seperately(about 700kb in total) they are here:

And, if there is any way to get rid of the "section1preloader.swf" altogether that is even better. Just copy the section1 and section1preloader and rename them section2 and section2pre..to save on download time of the files. Oops, just realized that if you publish the section1preloader, you'll need to publish it as section1pre...sorry fot the inconvenience...arg...wish I had thought of that before I uploaded them, been a long night.

thanks,
Adam

Some confusion in your question...

You want the next movie to be preloaded before the present movie plays it's outro?

Yeah, basically the first swf plays until it's midframe....then waits there until you click a new button. the first swf then plays from its midframe to the end and then loads the second swf that corresponds to the button you clicked...the way the tutorial has it, the preloader for the second swf kicks in only after the first swf has come to its end. I'm hoping that there is a way to have the first swf stay at its midframe, while the second swf preloads, and then the first swf plays until its end, and the second swf is loaded right away, because it has already been preloaded. Thanks, so much old, for reading this, sorry about the confusion...and I hope this clears it up a bit.

Thanks,
Adam

also, don't know if you downloaded those files, but they are just a mock up of what I'm trying to do..I know it looks crappy and choppy, I just threw that picture in there to slow the load time so I could see the preloader percentage working...thanks again for your time :) been working on it this morning still, on top of the hours I worked on it last night...and if there is still confusion in my explanation..please let me know.

thanks,
Adam

What's this picture in your files, got to do with all this?

Should I just work it out with number clips as you have it in main?

lol...sorry, I seem to be making things more confusing...I was just saying that that picture was in there so I could more easilly see the percentage of the preloading swf, just giving extra, superfluous information...Any way you can work it out is fantastic to me...even if you can just give a place to start from...I appreciate it, oldnewbie, I hope you know that!!!

Adam

Working on it. Starting from scratch though! Might be a while since I have other stuff to take care of...

No problem whatsoever...I appreciate it. Thanks again, old...

Adam

Hey, oldnewbie, I appreciate you looking into this, but I need to get it done, so I posted a question on this over at Flash Kit...I just don't want you wasting more time looking into this, I know you're a busy fella ;-) Thanks for taking the time to look for me...

Adam

Took your advice, old, and tore the whole thing apart and started fresh...got it working!!! Thanks again for your on-going support!!

Adam

Hey, old...is your sript at all close to mine?...I mean, you know I'm still fairly new to actionscript, and now having seen my files, did I go about it in a somewhat logical way?..I tried soooo many things, and this was the only one that seemed to work. Any feedback is cool...even if you say, "I'd stick to knitting if I were you." thanks, Capt'n!!!

Adam

No the scripts are very different. Easier to understand for me I feel, but maybe more complex for others. Hit me with your e-mail (hit my own handle for my address - rather than posting your e-mail here!), And when I've cleaned them up, I'll send you the .flas. Just can't upload them at the moment... Don't have enough space left presently!

Thanks, I've sent an email to your second email, which, it seems, is usually what you request people to do. Interested to see your take on this one.

Adam

Did you guys eventually get to make an example of this and put it on the Web?
